The Catholic Archdiocese of Jos is in mourning following the death of one of its senior priests, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The sad announcement was made by the Archdiocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Daniel Gyang, in an official statement released to the clergy, religious, and laity of the Archdiocese.

“With total submission to the will of God, we hereby announce the passing unto eternal glory of Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo,” the statement read.

Until his death, Fr. Lubo served as the Parish Priest of St. William’s Parish, Zawan, and was also the Dean of Zawan Deanery. He was a respected member of the presbyterium and contributed significantly to the spiritual and pastoral life of the Archdiocese.

The Archbishop of Jos, Most Revd. Matthew Ishaya Audu extended deep condolences to Fr. Lubo’s immediate family, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter, his parishioners, brother priests, religious men and women, and all lay faithful.

“May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
