The Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has assured the citizens that his administration will ensure transparency and credibility in the Local Government polls slated for 9 October.
Governor Mutfwang made the declaration on 3 October, during the symbolic signing of a peace pact in Jos ahead of the LGA elections.
The governor said the Plateau State Independent Election Commission (PLASIEC) is a credible government institution that will not entertain electoral fraud or irregularities.
He also, added that under his watch, there would not be interference with the electoral process.
The Governor, represented by Ngo Josephine Piyo(the Deputy Governor) emphasized that the peace pact, signed by the 12 political parties who would be participating in the election, aims at complimenting the efforts made by the government and other important stakeholders towards ensuring peaceful local government elections.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Martha Nyam, Governor Mutfwang implores all parties to honour the pact, respect each other’s views, and work towards growing a Plateau where peace, justice, and unity will reign.
The state governor expressed optimism that the coming local government elections will open doors to opportunities and development in the state’s rural communities.
Dr. Julie Sanda, the Director General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, underscores the importance of collective cohesion by stakeholders towards strengthening peace on the Plateau, she further stresses the need to shun all forms of violence, hate speech, and political manipulations; and uphold the core values of democracy, fairness, mutual respect, non-violent and conflict resolution.

Mr. Plangji Cishak, the Chairman of PLASIEC, also echoed the submission of other stakeholders reiterating their commitment to conduct a credible election in the state, one that would serve as a model for other states to emulate.
Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Chris Hassan, speaking on behalf of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), assured that they would abide by the rules and maintain peace before and after the election.
