The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr Ignatius Kaigama has underscored the importance of regular medical check-up for priests, religious and lay faithful.

Kaigama said he was the “first to receive various medical examinations” at the Diamond Hearts Hospital, Makurdi, on the 23 July, during its opening by Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Patrick Idoko who invited him to bless the new specialist hospital.

The Archbishop remarked on the excellent services he and other Bishops, priests and religious had received from the hospital management while in Jos before their relocation to Benue State.

He cautioned on the danger of late medical diagnosis, advising people “not to wait until we are struck down by a sickness,” before accessing medical care.

The hospital will cater for a broad spectrum of medical services, while retaining its specialty as specializing in the treatment of heart diseases.

“The hospital project has been substantially completed and it has officially commenced rendering a variety of medical services, with the hope of soon adding more specialized services.” The post on his Facebook page read.

Archbishop Kaigama further expressed gratitude to Dr Idoko for the numerous medical services rendered selflessly especially as he also “prioritizes the medical welfare of the priests, even as he welcomes and treats in his hospital children, the young, the old, the women and men.”

The Metropolitan See of Abuja  included in his prayer those who render selfless services of various kind to priests and humanity, praying God blesses the work of their hands.

For the Cardiologist he said:”May God bless Dr. Idoko, and continue to use him to bring healing of both body and mind to all who come to the hospital.”
