Bandits have kidnapped Rev. Father Gabriel Ukeh, the presiding priest of St. Thomas Parish in Zaman Dabo community, located in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He was taken from the parish rectory early on Sunday morning, June 9.

Rev. Father Emmanuel Kazan, Vicar General (Pastoral), who made this known in a press statement on Sunday, called for prayers for the priest’s safe and swift release.

He condemned the frequent kidnappings of innocent citizens for ransom.

Kazan urged the government to enhance its security measures, especially with the upcoming Sallah celebration.

” As we work with security operatives for his quick release, we wish to call on all to stay away from taking the laws into their hands. We will use every legitimate means to ensure that Fr. comes back to us safe and sound.

“Through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of priests and Religious, may  Jesus the crucified hearken to our prayers and hasten the unconditional release of His Priest and every other abducted person.”

He further emphasized the importance of working with security forces to secure the priest’s release without resorting to forceful actions.

Kazan expressed hope for the safe return of Father Ukeh through the legitimate means and prayed for divine intervention for all abducted individuals.

The Kaduna State Public Relations Officer, ASP Manor Hassan, stated the would confirm the incident and provide further information.
