Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has commemorated his one-year anniversary in office, reflecting on the challenges faced and the accomplishments achieved during his tenure.
In a broadcast to the people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the support of the citizens, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security chiefs, and the National Emergency Management Agency in addressing security challenges.
Despite inherited debt, legal battles, and a civil service strike, the administration has made significant progress in various sectors, including:
– Security: Reactivation of Operation Rainbow, training of 600 personnel, and establishment of a State Security and Information Center.
– Infrastructure: Construction and rehabilitation of road networks, including the Farin Gada-Gada Biyu-Polo Roundabout-Police Headquarters road and others.
– Education: Revitalization of public schools, reduction of tuition fees for state indigenes, and accreditation of courses in state-owned tertiary institutions.
– Agriculture: Procurement of fertilizers, training of youths in modern agricultural techniques, and development of 4,000 hectares of land for crop zones.
– Health: Revitalization of the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Agency, construction of a Laboratory Complex and emergency Paediatric unit at the Plateau State Specialist hospital.
– Civil Service: Timely payment of salaries, resolution of prolonged strikes, and investment in professional growth through training programs.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of unity and appealed to citizens to put aside ethnic and religious differences, working together towards a peaceful and harmonious state.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Plateau State for their unwavering support and trust, acknowledging the cooperation of traders in market restructuring initiatives.
The governor concluded by thanking God for guiding the state thus far and seeking continued divine guidance towards a brighter future.
